Dahlia Rizk created Buckle Me Baby Coats. She is a mom of three who felt too tired to wrestle her kids’ coats off in the car seat One. More. Time.

“I don’t like ponchos – I don’t want to drag blankets through slush – I don’t want my kids to be cold,” she says.

“One day, feeling totally defeated by the No Coat Thing, I thought if the zipper wasn’t in the middle… Enter instant excitement!! I applied for a patent and did the next logical thing, I spoke with every coat manufacturer imaginable. I thought they would jump on the idea but they didn’t believe that coats and car seats had anything to do with one another. They weren’t in the trenches though – I was – and I knew other parents were too.

“I would see kids wrapped in a blankets dragging through slush with their totally defeated looking mom and know I had to get this simple solution out there! One day I thought let me try Facebook to talk directly to moms and here we are!”

Dahlia, her three kids, two cats, and dog live in Windham. She’s also a mental health counselor – she runs a private practice with a friend where she treat adults with PTSD. She loves escape rooms, Netflix binge watching, theater, long books, and card games.

1. What products and services do you offer?

I sell coats I invented that can stay on and be safely used in the car seat at the same time.

2. How long have you been in business?

A little under three years.

3. How do people find you online?

Most people find me through Facebook, word of mouth, or they saw the spot Good Morning America did on the coats.

4. What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?

I think people tend to think Buckle Me Baby Coats is a huge company with a lot of staff when it’s just me. Customer service – me, research and design – me, website needs fixing – still me.

5. What’s your favorite thing about living in NH?

New Hampshire is the perfect place to raise a family. It’s just so beautiful here and everyone you run into is amazingly friendly and supportive. Plus, we have the cutest summer ice cream places ever!
